The gap Shopify leaves open
Shopify’s native B2B lets you give a company a credit limit and payment terms. What it does not do is enforce them at checkout. A wholesale buyer sitting at $23,000 of a $25,000 line can place a $30,000 order with zero friction, and you find out only after the order is already booked. CreditGate closes that gap.
Enforcement at the point of purchase
- Hold an order that goes over the limit. CreditGate checks the company’s outstanding balance plus this order’s total against its credit limit, and stops the checkout when it would go over.
- Stop a checkout while a balance is past due. If a company has an overdue balance, CreditGate blocks the new order until it clears, so you are not extending more credit to an account that already owes you past its terms.
- Show the buyer a clear reason. A blocked buyer sees a plain message at checkout asking them to get in touch, not a broken page.
One job, done natively
- It enforces, it is not an AR platform. CreditGate applies the credit rules you set. It does not do credit scoring, invoicing, cash-flow reports, or financing. It sits alongside the terms you or your ERP already run.
- Nothing touches your theme. Enforcement runs inside Shopify’s own checkout through a native validation function, so there is no script added to your storefront to slow it down or clean up later.
- It works with Shopify’s native B2B. CreditGate reads the buyer’s company straight from Shopify B2B companies and payment terms. There is nothing new for your buyers to learn.
Built to be safe with real money
Blocking a good order is worse than letting a rare one through, so CreditGate is built to fail on the side of the sale:
- A company with no credit record, or a record that is not set up yet, is never blocked.
- If a credit record cannot be read cleanly, or its currency does not match the checkout, CreditGate steps aside and lets the order through rather than guessing.
- A real limit with a real balance still enforces, exactly as you set it.
How it works
- Set a credit limit for each B2B company, and choose whether to enforce the limit, the overdue rule, or both.
- CreditGate stores those limits where Shopify’s checkout can read them. Nothing is added to your theme.
- At checkout, the buyer’s company is checked against its limit and overdue status, and an order that breaks the rule is stopped with a message you control.
Built like the rest of Hurdle: native Shopify surfaces, a dependency-free core proven against fixed test vectors, and honest about the line. CreditGate enforces the credit rules you set. It does not pretend to be your accounting system.
