Getting started
What does CreditGate do? It enforces your B2B credit terms at checkout. When a company would go over its credit limit, or has an overdue balance, CreditGate stops the order at checkout instead of letting it book and finding out later.
Do I need theme code changes? No. CreditGate enforces through Shopify’s own checkout, using a native validation function. Nothing is injected into your theme.
Does it work with Shopify’s native B2B? Yes. CreditGate reads the buyer’s company from Shopify B2B (companies and payment terms). It adds enforcement on top of the terms Shopify already lets you set.
What it enforces
What exactly gets blocked? Two rules. Over the limit: the company’s outstanding balance plus this order’s total would go over its credit limit. Overdue: the company has a past-due balance. You can turn each rule on or off.
What if a company is both over the limit and overdue? The order is blocked and the overdue message is shown, because a past-due balance is the thing to clear first.
Can I choose the message the buyer sees? Yes. You set the message a blocked buyer sees at checkout. If you leave it blank, CreditGate shows a clear default that asks the buyer to get in touch before continuing.
Safety
Will CreditGate ever block a good order by mistake? It is built not to. A company with no credit record, or one that is not set up yet, is never blocked. If a credit record cannot be read cleanly, CreditGate lets the order through rather than guessing.
What about multi-currency? Each company’s limit and balance are held in one currency. If a checkout is in a different currency, CreditGate does not compare the two and lets the order through. Set each company’s limit in the currency it checks out in.
Does a company with a zero limit get blocked? Only if it also carries a real balance or an overdue flag. A brand-new, all-zero record is treated as not set up yet and is left alone.
Scope
Is CreditGate an accounts-receivable platform? No, and it does not try to be. It enforces the credit limit and overdue rule you set, at checkout. It does not do credit scoring, invoicing, AR reports, or financing. It is meant to sit alongside the terms you already run.
Does it connect to my accounting system or ERP? Not today. CreditGate keeps each company’s balance from your store’s own Shopify orders on terms, with a limit you set. A deeper accounting sync is something we are looking at, but it is not part of the app today.
Account and data
What data does CreditGate use? Only what it needs to enforce a company credit rule: the buyer’s B2B company, the credit limit and balance you keep for that company, and the store’s orders placed on terms. It does not receive your buyers’ payment details, because the checkout check runs inside Shopify and cannot call out. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What happens when I uninstall? The app stops accessing your store and its stored credentials are deleted. CreditGate honors Shopify’s privacy and deletion requests.
