Getting started
What does TrueBundle do? It builds mix-and-match bundles that expand into their real component products at checkout, with prices that always add up to the total you advertise and inventory tracked for every component.
Do I need a developer or theme code changes? No. The bundle expands through Shopify’s own checkout, and the optional storefront picker is a theme app block you add from the theme editor. TrueBundle does not edit your theme files.
How do I create my first bundle? Create a product for the bundle in your Shopify admin, open TrueBundle, pick that product’s variant as the parent, add pools of component variants, choose the pricing, and publish. The user manual walks through every step.
Pricing and totals
How is a bundle priced? Three ways: a fixed total for the whole bundle, a percent off the components’ list prices, or the sum of the component prices. You pick one per bundle.
How do the component prices always add up to the total? TrueBundle splits the bundle total across the components using largest-remainder allocation. When a remainder cannot sit evenly on one component’s units, that component is split across two lines priced one cent apart, so the parts always sum to the total exactly.
Does it work in more than one currency? Yes. The bundle total is converted once into the shopper’s currency and then split, so the parts still add up exactly. Zero-decimal currencies like JPY and three-decimal currencies like KWD are handled correctly.
Where do the component list prices come from? When you add a component, TrueBundle snapshots its current price into the bundle. You can edit that snapshot in the builder. If you change the product’s price later, TrueBundle refreshes the snapshot automatically so percent-off totals and allocation stay honest.
Pools and mix-and-match
What is a pool? A pool is one choice the shopper makes: pick between a minimum and a maximum number of items from that pool’s components. Set the minimum and maximum to the same number for an exact count, for example choose exactly 3.
Can I limit how many of one component a shopper takes? Yes. Each pool has an optional per item limit, so one component cannot fill the whole pool unless you want it to.
Can a bundle have a fixed, non-choosable set of parts? Yes. If every pool holds exactly one component with an exact count, the bundle is fully fixed. It needs no storefront picker and expands automatically at checkout.
Inventory
How does TrueBundle stop a bundle from overselling? Each component becomes a real order line at checkout, so Shopify decrements its stock like any other sale. The bundle parent is flagged to require components, so it can only sell as the full expanded bundle and never on its own.
Will the components show as separate items in the order? Yes. The components are real order lines, so they appear in the order and are fulfilled like normal products.
Storefront picker
How do shoppers build a bundle on my store? Add the TrueBundle picker block to your bundle product’s template in the theme editor. It lets shoppers choose from each pool and adds the bundle to the cart.
What can I customize on the picker? Its heading, its accent color, its add-to-cart button label, and whether component prices are shown.
Will the picker show a bundle that is not ready? No. The picker only renders for a published, active bundle. If a bundle is a draft or its configuration cannot be read, the picker stays hidden, which is the safe state.
Compatibility and limits
Does TrueBundle do subscription bundles? No. Shopify’s checkout does not allow expanding lines that carry a subscription or selling plan, so TrueBundle is for one-time-purchase bundles.
Is TrueBundle an upsell or cross-sell marketing app? No. It is a bundle correctness engine, not an upsell suite. It does not do quantity breaks, buy-one-get-one, or free-gift promotions.
What happens if a bundle’s configuration is invalid? It fails closed. The builder blocks publishing until every check passes, and if a published bundle ever becomes unreadable, the parent simply cannot be purchased rather than selling at the wrong price.
Account and data
What data does TrueBundle use? Only your products and the bundle definitions you create. It does not access your orders or your customers, and it stores no customer personal information. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What happens when I uninstall? The app stops accessing your store and its stored credentials are deleted. TrueBundle supports Shopify’s privacy webhooks for data and shop deletion.
