Getting started

What does SegmentPrice do? It applies two kinds of pricing automatically: per-segment pricing (wholesale, VIP, or B2B prices for the customers you choose) and quantity volume breaks (buy more, save more). Both are managed in one place.

Do I need a developer or theme code changes? No. Pricing works through a Shopify Function, and the optional storefront badge is a theme app block you drag in from the theme editor. SegmentPrice does not edit your theme files.

How do I create my first price? Open SegmentPrice, go to Pricing rules, add a rule, and press Save. SegmentPrice creates its discount for you automatically. The user manual walks through every option.

Pricing rules

What rule types are there? Segment pricing (a price for a chosen audience), volume breaks (quantity tiers), and buy X get Y (BOGO).

What happens if two rules apply to the same item? You choose. “Use the biggest discount” gives the customer the best price (the default). “Use the lowest priority number” applies your rules in list order and the first match wins.

Can I schedule a sale? Yes. Give a rule a start and end date. The price applies during the window and returns to normal automatically when it ends. There are no bulk price edits to undo.

Can I pause a rule without deleting it? Yes, turn off its Enabled switch.

Customers and segments

How does SegmentPrice know who is a wholesale customer? By Shopify customer tags. A customer tagged wholesale matches a rule that targets the wholesale segment.

A customer is not getting their price. What should I check? Confirm the customer has the right tag, that a rule uses that segment, and that you have pressed “Sync existing customers” at least once. Then use Preview a price to test as that customer.

Why do I need to press “Sync existing customers”? New tag changes are picked up automatically, but customers who already had the tags before you installed the app need a one-time back-fill. The button does that.

What is the “Require the shopper to be logged in” switch? It limits a rule to logged-in customers in general. Use it only with care: if you turn it on without choosing a segment or company, the rule applies to every logged-in customer. For wholesale or VIP pricing, target a segment or B2B company instead.

B2B

Does SegmentPrice work with Shopify B2B? Yes. You can target specific B2B company locations in a rule’s audience.

Will it affect how my B2B orders are attributed to a company? No. SegmentPrice applies discounts at checkout and never creates or edits orders. It has no order access at all. Your B2B orders are created and attributed to their company by Shopify’s native checkout, exactly as before. If Shopify warns that some apps may not attribute B2B orders to a company, that is not SegmentPrice; the usual cause is an app that builds draft orders for wholesale buyers.

Storefront

How do shoppers see the pricing? Add the SegmentPrice badge block to your product template in the theme editor. It shows member and volume pricing, and matches your brand. It is optional.

Will the badge show the wrong price? No. The storefront badge and the checkout use one shared pricing engine, so the badge shows what checkout will charge.

Does it slow down or break my theme? The badge is a self-contained theme app block and is removed cleanly if you uninstall. It does not modify your theme files.

Compatibility

Does it work with Shopify discount codes? Yes. SegmentPrice pricing combines with order-level discount codes, so customers can use both.

Does it handle products with many variants? Yes. Pricing is computed per cart line, so a product with dozens of variants works without issue.

Does it change my catalog prices? No. Discounts are calculated at checkout, so your catalog prices are never batch-edited and there is nothing to clean up after a sale.

Account and data

What data does SegmentPrice use? Only what it needs: customer tags and a private segments field, B2B company information, and the discount it manages. It does not access your orders. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What happens when I uninstall? The app stops accessing your store and its stored credentials are deleted. SegmentPrice supports Shopify’s privacy webhooks for data and shop deletion.
